What are the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome and how can i treat it myself ???

i believe i may have IBS but it has not been confirmed by the doctor yet.

i went to see them last year but they did not check me over and instead only said it could just be the way my digestion is and sent me home..ggrr

but i feel like im getting worse and think it could be IBS

what are the symtoms of it
and
is it possible to treat it at home or do i need medication??

Keep bugging your doctor!! I kept going with abdominal pains and other symptoms and I'm sure he thought I was making it up. He then said I had IBS and tried Colofac and other meds but it kept getting worse, so I kept going back. He eventually referred me to hosp where they found I had Crohn's Disease! It's your body and you should know when something doesn't feel right.

IBS = Stomach cramping after food, very painful bloating/wind and the squits or constipation. Could be caused by a particular food intolerance or stress

Bloating, irregular bowel movements, food intolerances, general malaise. It is difficult to treat, possibly the best home method is a herbal detox. Plus stay away from trigger foods.

stomach aches..
lower abdomen pains..
changes in going to the loo sometimes runs other times hard to go..
Wind
feeling sick but not being sick

you need to find out what causes it.. for me its bread and coffee.. both of which i love but now avoid.... took me several years to work it out but i got there and feel so much healthier..

I've had IBS for 23 years and no doctor has ever ran any tests on me. I knew I had it by watching Good Morning on ITV 1 when their doctor described the symptoms of mine to a T.

You go from being constipated to running to the loo really often. Don't take milk when you have the runs as that irritates the bowel and makes it worse. I drink just water when mine starts. I do get meds to help with the cramps as they can stop you in your tracks. You need to get them from the doctor. Try a high fibre diet and cut down on fatty foods as that makes it worse. They do say the those pro-biotic drinks are meant to help but I've stopped taking them and I am fine just now. Stress sets mine off more than what I eat, but then I cook, so don't eat ready meals or fatty foods, so who knows?

Good luck!!

i've got it too, the doc prescribed Colofac and it's working!
look it up on google. it can vary in causes and in symptoms. go back to the doc if you think that's what it is.

I've had IBS for years and nothing worked. Then I joined Weightwatchers and cut out fizzy drinks. I upped my fruit & veg intake (I now eat tons of every different type) and the IBS just disappeared. Maybe it was just time for it to go, but I really do think it is the healthy diet.

Symptoms are discomfort, bloating, wind, feeling hungry constantly and craving junk food. I know because I suffer with it but I am much better now thanks to my wonderful homeopath. I was diagnosed with IBS after an endoscopy at a private hospital. I was then put on tablets such as Buscopan which sort of help but you have to keep on taking them. However, my homeopath said my problem was with wheat and she put me on an elimination and then a re-introduction diet plan. I did not take any remedies. It worked! I still have to go for 3monthly checks if things start to feel bad but thats it. I highly recommend it! Good luck and speedy recovery.

ibs causes your stomach to bloat after some foods you get very bad cramps also constipation and diorreha all you need to do ia avoid fatty foods and spicy foods all so seewhat else triggers it off good luck
