I have just been diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (ibs) I am having really bad pains. HELP ME PLEASE?

My Mom hasn't picked up my medicine yet and i don't know what to do

Do you have IBS with constipation, diarrhea, or both? Self-care measures vary with the symptoms.

Here's one thing that helps me: Use your fingers or your fist to make counterclockwise kneading motions. Start just to the left of your right hip, move up, move across right under your ribs, and then go down to just right of your left hip. This helps relieve gas.

I use the fiber supplement FiberSure, and it helps out a lot. It dissolves best in hot drinks, like tea. Make sure you drink enough water. Taking half a dose of Imodium AD could help alieve diarrhea cramps without making you constipated. A stool softenter will help if you have chronic constipation. None of these (except for the fiber supplement) should be used as a long-term solution without a doctor's supervision, though.

Drinking kefir, a yogurt smoothie with live and active cultures, may help, too.

More tips are listed on the page linked below. Lifestyle changes (especially getting enough exercise) can have dramatic results.

You have to completely change your diet in order for you to not have as bad of pains.

I have ibs. but i eat really healthy. i'm talking organic fruit, vegtables; start your day with a glass of prune juice.

stay away from greasy foods like pizza.

drink tons of water.

i know it sucks. and i still have bad tummy ache days, but eating better will help A LOT.

Pain is often due to cramping that is present with IBS...

The best way to relieve is to try to have a Bowel Movement. You may have Diarrhea or Constipation. Both will cause cramping.

If you have diarrhea... going to the restroom should relieve the cramps.

If you have constipation... increase your fluid and water intake... eat more fiber... and get more activity such as walking.

Good Luck,

peach has good ans

i went to see a holistic dr and he did full blood work on me and diagnosed me with half a dozen intolerances (including one to my ibs medicene!) and since then i've been a lot better.
Hypnotherapy does actually work, it kinda makes you think it doesn't hurt.

If the drugs worked for you then it's fine, but there were major side effects for me, i was on a very low dosage of triptafan and it screwed up my head, my school phoned home and said i was on drugs ( iwasn't)

Best of luck
