Alternative Medicine for Irritable Bowel Syndrome? |
I'm looking for some alternative therapies for a classic case of IBS. Aside high symptom prescriptions and over the counter medication cocktails of peptobismal and gas ex, I'm not finding much else that can be done. I work in an herbal store and I've had remarkable results with a combination of two products by a company called New Chapter. Sensitive Colon (herbal probiotic) and Stress Advantage. As I understand it, the healthy intestinal flora regulates gut function as well as many other functions like immunity. It (Sensitive Colon) also contains organic herbs and food (okra) that have soothing mucilaginous qualities. IBS is an indication of internal stress in the body. Adaptogens in Stress Advantage are thought to nourish the adrenal glands and decrease cortisol levels that cause inflammation. As I said, I have had great feedback on this encourage you to look into it. Also, NSAIDs have been shown to cause stomach legions after only two weeks of regular use. This causes inflammation and compounds your problem. well...hops helps..so uh.. hops tea? or drink a beer that contains a high amount of hops I find that laying on your front with a pillow under your stomach helps a lot. Or this may sound stupid and I know it works for me and some other people I know, but just having a hot water bottle. I like Bentyl (10mg) ( i take as many as i need, at the time, however). If you haven't tried it, ask your doctor. It's not a cure, by any means, but it helps with the pain (i fall asleep, usually)....something that none of those OTC medicines will do. If anyone has a real treatment plan to rid oneself of IBS, please do share! Truly, the Best of Luck to You with your pain! I would always take amodium A.D. u can get it @ the store that always helped me and then i would just go lay down... This is only a suggestion. I use Chia Seeds They work Great. Go to a health food store or a grocery store and get them. I know it has helped me and the best part is it is natural !! Good Luck ! SJ For immediate good and long term results. You should see difference in two weeks All of these herbs have been shown to be helpful: Sip a cup of hot water with a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in it when you feel bloated. It helps. |
