What's good for "Irritable Bowel Syndrome"? Sometimes I can hardly move with it.?

I think it is called Colifac. Haven't had to use for sometime. I had to get it on prescription.

I don't suffer this now. I wish I knew what I changed which made it go away.

Curling up on the floor in the foetal position used to help me.

go to gp, get prescription. i did, it works.

There are special supplements which are out in the market. Go to your local pharmacist and tell them abour ur problems. They are sure to help and youll be feeling better in no time!

you can buy meds from your local chemist, try someting containing buscapan this helps stop spasms which cause the discomfort.

You need to go to a gastroenterologist. That can be very serious. There are medications. See one!

Eat more fiber, and/or take Miralax(off the shelf) and drink about 3-5 glasses of water a day and you should see some improvement. give it a day or two,

peppermint oil capsules from the chemist

hardly move? hm.

You should probably change your diet if it's that bad. Try to cut back on raw foods...such as salad, the skin of grapes, vegetables...ya know that sorta thing. It's best if you steam them so they'll break down more easily. Pork is also very bad for a stomach. It's so very difficult to digest. If you do eat meat, try to buy what is lean. Also, if you drink milk, you should stop to see if that is also what causes it.

IBS is a horrible condition. The diet alone is sufferable.

i know!!! they gave me something called Bentyl, i can't remember the chemical name, and it knocked the spasms out like a charm-got it from the doctor-i think they were 10 or 20 milligrams or so but i am not sure-is it irritable bowel u r talking about or just constipation?? not that either one is better!! there are medications to 'stimulate' and ones to 'calm' an overactive bowel-with nothing on hand, ibuprofen may help pain and inflammation, and a cold, carbonated, caffeinted beverage may help move things along if u meant constipation-

-i've also heard of msg causing a bad reaction in people that can cause all kinds of problems-check it out on google and see if it adds up to what's going on--get well soon :-)

Im yet to find an answer to that one - I have even had a colonoscopy (now the prep for them sure clears you out!) to make sure I had nothing else and nothing was found so confirmation IBS - At that time I was prescribed a medication for it that stops the cramping and spasms you had to take it just before eating - problem was though for me - it stopped all movement completely - I ended up constipated so stopped taking it.

I find I mainly get it when there is more stress in life or if I dont sleep well for days on end I can get it also - another trigger for me is too much dairy (Im a bit dairy intollerant)

The only real thing I have found effective isnt a real fix - I just keep running to the toilet in the hopes that this time I can go and suffer the pain as the spasming occurrs - my ex used to say to me - did you get to go? He would know what was going on as Id run to and from the toilet 10 times in half an hour sure that this time (and every time that now is the time) I could go - I would say no or yes - but if the answer was yes - finally but I dont know whether there is any more or not as the spasming kind of keeps going after you have got rid of it all.. eventually it stops and all is fine - I think the longest it has taken me to pass every thing and stop the cramping has been close to 2 days but generally within a few hours I get to go and get rid of it all

I share your pain - sometimes the spasming is crippling

Bentyl!!! It really works!!!

first see your g.p as there are lots of different anti- spasmodics that will help with the awful cramps, I use peppermint oil capsules and drink peppermint tea after meals I find that helps with trapped gas.
also cut back on dairy as I find cheese, cream and too much milk can aggravate it.
try to get plenty of rest and a couple of early nights.
hope you feel better soon!

Buscopan (Hyoscine Hydrobromide) - buy it from the chemists if you're in the UK.

I was diagnosed just before Christmas with IBS, after months of suffering. Was prescribed all sorts of medicines and given tips on diet. I
decided to do the diet tips and ignore the medicines because I'm sick of swallowing pills. The best tip from the gastro-enterologist was to eat as normally as possible, because your attitude does a lot. You MUST NOT tell yourself that certain foods will bring on problems. the only thing he did advise me was to avoid too many gassy foods, beans, cabbage family, oignons etc. I still use them but in small amounts. Basically I cut out a lot of red meat, preferring chicken and fish. I eat brown, homemade bread, but not every day, alternate with white sometimes. Loads of fruit and tons of vegetables and homemade soup every day, not mixing the soup but leaving chunks in it, the best being minesstrone. You can buy freezer bags of the vegetables, just add tin of chopped tomatoes, stock cubes, a little oignon, delicious. I steam my vegetables, delicious, but then I always did anyway. Several times a week I only have a huge plate of vegetables for dinner. I take skimmed milk, low-fat cheeses, low sugar jam, etc. It's very easy to follow really and I find It really works for me. This week for instance we are on holiday and have been out to eat several times so my diet has not been as regular as I would like, which bought on some problems, so today it's just vegetables, fruit, loads of water and soups. If you find the bloating really painful, then I recommend you massage a few drops of pepperminmt essential oil into the stomach area, it does wonders. If you can follow what I do then you will find a vast improvement within a couple of weeks. No more constipation or discomfort.
Try to accept that you may need to change your diet and enjoy finding ways of being inventive with what is better for you to eat and don't get hung up on any nibbles you may but should not really have. As long as it isn't excessive you will come to no harm. Basically, I feel so much better, life is now liveable, because I didn't feel that way previously. One real upside to this diet, apart from feeling much better, is that I have lost the excess one stone I was carrying and am looking slim and well. One more thing, give up eating between meals, except for fruit or a low fat yoghourt or somesuch and eat regularly. I wish you the very best of luck. Hang on in there.
