Abdominal pain, possibly irritable bowel syndrome?

For a few months now I have been having pains on my right side similar to muscle soreness. It starts under the right side of my ribcage and I get it around my hip bone, lower back and sometimes as far down as my groin.

I have looked up all the obvious causes but the symptoms dont match. Recently though, I have noticed that I get the pain before bowel movements. I have maybe 3 or 4 a week normally, but yesterday I had 3 (varying from hard to loose) and the pain seemed to get better afterwards.

My diet is not great at the moment, I eat alot of white bread and Mcdonalds etc, although I am fairly active.

Does this sound like IBS? If so, what can I do to help it (obviously change my diet!)? If not, what else could it be?

You need to go & see your doctor.Good Luck

No its not IBS i have that, that tends to be you being sick very regular.

It sounds like you have a pendicitus, i dont know how to spell it, but its very common 1 in 3 people have them nowadays and its a simple thing are removing it. Oh and you dont need your apendix , unless you eat grass.

IBS symptoms vary from person to person. Myself and my hubby both get it in very different ways. You really need to see a GP so they can rule out anything more serious but wouldn't worry, it does sound as though it may be IBS. It's terrible but is actually just a name for unexplained bowel problems. Mine can cause horrendous pain but then i won't suffer for months. Stress is the main trigger for mine but you may find that certain foods are a trigger, you will get used to what you can and can't eat and once diagnosed, the doctor will probably prescribe an antispasmodic drug like mebeverine. A word of advice, take 2 when you feel the pain coming rather than waiting until it is really painful as then the tablets don't work as well. Hot water bottle is also my best friend if i have an attack!

It could be IBS, but it's far more likely that it's a normal physiological pain caused by a diet high in fat and low in fibre. Try improving your diet. Google low-fat, high-fibre diet to find some info on good sources of fibre and foods to avoid.
It doesn't sound very serious, so don't worry about it - that could even make it a bit worse.

I'm not a doctor or anything, but i don't think you have IBS. When I get IBS it feels like a deep pain in the center of my stomach. No food is known to help IBS, I know that. YOu might want to check with your doctor if this continues.

See a doctor mate.
