Is Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) really a disease?

Or is it a fancy way for people to say they have a touchy stomach.

I was told that IBS is basically not a scientific disease. It is a collection of symptoms that are similar that can have all sorts of different causes. I had it but then I took Align GI. Align doesn't work for everyone. This guy had better luck with yogurt: http://www.thedeucediaries.blogspot.com

it is more than a touchy stomach, for some people it can be very serious.....not like Crohns which can usually results in people having to have sections of their bowels removed and there is no cure......IBS can often times be managed with diet and/or medications, kind of like diabetes.

Attention IBS Sufferers

Ideon a health research company is conducting a series of 30 1 on 1 interviews with current people suffering with IBS. We are testing new advertising concepts for an over-the-counter digestive probiotic product and we want to obtain feedback from people who suffer from IBS. The interview will last approximately 45 minutes and will be Web and phone based conversation (toll free 800 number), so you need to have access to a computer and a phone. You will receive a $75 honorarium for your time. If you are interested please send an email to research@ideonhealth.com with your phone number so that we may contact you to provide additional information.

Thank you in advance.
