Can Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) cause severe lower right abdominal pain? |
Can Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) cause severe lower right abdominal pain? yes it can especially if one of the pouches in your intestine becomes inflamed (...diverticulitis} right side pain should always be investigated appendix is in that general location as well... if you start having a fever or it continues past 2 days you should seek medical care... it sure can=get a colonoscopy done at least you will know if its alright or not If your pain is in the lower right abdominal area, you can't do a colonoscopy because the instrument will not go up there. It's only designed for the large intestine, and right side pain usually involves the small intestines. They have only a limited scope to go down through the mouth, esophagus, stomach and into the small intestine. I f you need to have it look at, they do have a capsule with a camera in it that you swallow and then they can take a look at the small intestine as it passes through. Obviously, you should go to a GP (general practitioner) and describe to them exactly where the pain is, and they will be able to recommend a course of action. I was having that same problem, severe pain in my lower right abdominal area.Dr's. say I need a biopsy to see if I have Chron's disease.Do you get sick and throw up when you have the pains? |
