I have irritable bowel syndrome. It take be a long time to pass motion, my stools are not hard, I eat enough? |
fruits and veges daily. I wud like to know if it is a mdical problem or a physcological problem. I don't have the urge to pass motion in the morning. So I usually eat 2 slices of bread and a cup of Milo or coffee in the morning and after that I go and pass motion. Usually I wait about 5-7 mins beforeI can pass motion and most of the time I strain myself. It get worse when there's noises outside the toilet or when I feel someone else is waiting. My stomach gets bloated when I strained too much but I am only satisfied when I know I have empty my bowels completely. It's very frustrating not to be able to relax and just pass motion. If I feel there's lots of gas in my stomach after I pass motion, I'll make myself throw up. It's frustrating and embaressing to spend at least 30 min in the toilet(usually twice in a day). I have irregular eating hours, I usually eat my dinner after 8pm and that's usually a full meal. Please give me any suggestion to find the root cause. I NEED HELP. First, get over the need to have your bowels conform to your schedule - especially since your eating habits are irregular. Wait until your body tells you it is time to go. And stop making YOURSELF THROW UP. Bad, bad habit. If that doesn't fix it, then yeah, more fiber would help. Is your bread white or whole grain? That's a good quick change. Or eat oatmeal for breakfast instead of bread. If you want, raisins are a good addition to raise your fiber intake. Another thing you could try is adding yogurt or lactobacillus acidopholus to your dietary habits. This has helped my problems quite a bit. But foremost, stop trying to put your body on a schedule. Has a doctor diagnosed your IBS? A true, accurate diagnosis requires a good history and physical and can be confirmed by a colonoscopy. There's several treatments for IBS..most of the time a class of drugs called anti-cholinergics will work. The best thing you can do to help yourself is to drink plenty of water and increase the fiber in your diet. There's plenty of fiber supplements available if you don't get enough fiber naturally. Experts believe that foods high in fat also contribute to IBS, so you might want to avoid those, as well. Stress is also a contributing factor, of course. Relaxation techniques might help.
