Since I have been living with IBS since '84 (when it was finally diagnosed)...I know I don't get constipated...quite the opposite. However...simplest way to treat either..is eat lots of high fiber foods. And I do mean lots. If the cramps get too painful, I take an anti-spasmodic called Bentylol. Comes in 10 or 20 milligrams and does not need a prescription. You would need to ask the pharmacist for it however and be warned...it will make you groggy. But it helps stop the pain.
20+ years of pain and suffering...women aren't the only ones who get cramps.
Metamucil. I take if for both extremes. I was prescribed a tablespoon daily (a dose is a teaspoon).
Heinz apple cider vinegar which has 93 vitamins and minerals. Just 2 tbls. in a glass of water 2-3 x day for overall optimum health. Cures constipation, dandruff, cough, cold, flu,. depression, warts, bacterial infection and a host of other infection/diseases. Read the apple cider vinegar cures website. It really works to regulate the body bowel movements. You should also drink 6-8 glasses of water daily. Read the "dehydration" website too.
Yo,
Best way is to get a healthy gastro-system going. Best way to do that is watch what you eat, exercise, and drink purified water... ALONG with taking some supplements perhaps as well.

I struggled for longer than I care to remember or talk about (it actually might not have been that long, but all of you who have suffered with it know it feels like an ETERNITY), finally have found some success and some regularity.

* Add healthy saturated fats such as organic extra virgin coconut oil to encourage healthy bowel movements. Read more about good fats and bad fats.
* Add foods rich in omega-3 essential fatty acids such as ground flax meal, wild-caught salmon, minimal-mercury albacore tuna, walnuts, fish oil, and sprouted walnuts.
* Add nutrient-dense and unprocessed foods such as sprouted nuts and seeds to your diet.
* Eat small meals throughout the day, rather than 3 large, heavy meals.
* Increase your daily intake of purified water, especially in between meals.
* Avoid drinking ice-cold water with meals. Ice-cold water slows down your digestion and lowers the amount of stomach acid (HCl), which is greatly needed to digest your food.
* Stay away from over-the-counter laxatives. These contain chemicals and herbs (such as psyllium) that induce bowel movements quickly (and sometimes violently) by irritating your bowel. They can cause cramps and diarrhea and lead to laxative dependence, followed by worse problems with constipation.
* Fiber 鈥?Maintain an adequate source of soluble fiber. Soluble fiber helps you maintain regularity by combining with food to form a gel that adds bulk and keeps the muscles of the colon stretched and working. Foods high in soluble fiber include:
o Ground flax meal
o Sprouted nuts and seeds
o Vegetables 鈥?avocados, beans, potatoes, squash
o Brown rice
o Oats

Good products too, use them myself, but read up first.
