Have any of you had liposuction?

I'm thinking of getting it done on my bum. I am tall and thin, fit and healthy but I think my bum is fat and no amount of exercise is shifting it. Believe me I have tried. I know nothing about it at all - for example what it it likely to cost in the UK and is it cheaper in other European countries? Also, does it hurt and are there any associated risks?

Thanks

hi. i had it a little while ago and i am happy with the results so far. lipo is not a weight loss tool but perfect for those of us who exercise regularly, are within our ideal weight range but have areas of fatty deposits that do not respond to diet and exercise (this is genetic, and dont believe those lean 20-something fitness trainers who tell you otherwise, they are naieve and full of crap). i had a positive experience with lipo but it IS surgery so research and find a plastic surgeon who has top credentials and whom you trust. also, please research the benefits and risks and make sure you are informed before making the decision. 2 great sites are www.liposite.com and www.makemeheal.com. cost in the us is around $3,000-$7,000 but can be more. one last thing, lipo cannot treat cellulite (and can even make it worse) so as long as the fatty deposits on your bum aren't cellulite (doc could tell you if you are unsure) you would probably be a candidate.

I had liposuction done in conjugation with my breast reduction. There is pain and there is risks. Accept the fact that you probably won't be sitting for a good couple of weeks after the procedure. I had swelling, with pockets of pain and pockets of numbness. My doctor said it could take a year for it all to settle. I spent about $2,200 on the lipo. Keep in mind that the procedure is basically a sharpened vacuum hose which they use to spear/seperate the fat from the other tissues. Get the wrong surgeon, and the procedure could turn out badly. It could turn out uneven, lumpy, result in loose/baggy skin, or even worse, done really wrong, you could have muscle tissue torn, or even the siatica nerve that runs in that area damaged. Just do your research on the doctors, and don't go to one just because they are cheaper.
