Could liposuction on my waist reduce my risk of heart disease? |
I've read that women with waists larger than 32" (80cm) are at a higher risk of heart disease. Mine is 37". If I had liposuction to remove 5 " (11 cm) would be risk be reduced?? No. Liposuction to remove fat has NO impact on your risk of developing heart disease. (They've done research on this) This is probably because it removes fat that is under the skin. You also have fat inside your abdomen, and you can't liposuction that fat. (It's all mixed together with your omentum and intestines and such) You can reduce your risk of heart disease by losing weight the hard way - diet and exercise. Source(s): I'm a doctor. If you eat right and exercise, you will reduce your waist and be heart healthier. Don't look to pills and surgery as a way to fix years of bad habits.
