What is Bulimia, Anorexia,baryophobia,liposuction,bariatric surgery,osimosis,diffusion,fitration,pinocytosis? Bulimia is when a person purposefully consumes to much food in order to make themselves throw up in order to lose weight. Anorexia is when a person refuses to eat or barely eats (by barely I mean in extremes) in order to lose weight. Baryophobia is stunted growth due to parental underfeeding. libosuction surgery is a procedure used to extracate fatty tissue from the body, usually the stomach. osmosis is the movement of water from an area of high concentration to one of low concentration. Diffusion is pretty much the same as osmosis, except osmosis is only for water and diffusion is for different types of chemicals. Filtration is the process of seperating two or more substances. Pinocytosis is on of three forms of endocytosis, a process in which small particles are taken in by a cell by splitting into smaller particles. The particles then form small vesicles which subsequently fuse with lysosomes to hydrolyze, or to break down, the particles. This process requires adenosine triphosphate, the chemical compound used as energy in a majority of cells. Pinocytosis is primarily used for the absorption of extracellular fluids (ECF), and in contrast to phagocytosis, generates very small vesicles. Unlike receptor-mediated endocytosis, pinocytosis is unspecific in the substances that it transports. The cell takes in surrounding fluids, including all solutes present. If your child is becoming excessively thin, or seems to be gorging food and not gaining weight, you may correctly suspect that something is wrong. She may have anorexia if she is exercising excessively and compulsively, withdrawing from friendships, becoming irritable, has developed unusual attitudes toward food, and is losing weight. If a person is not gaining any significant amount of weight but is obviously overeating, she may have bulimia. This is especially true if she is storing empty food containers in hidden places, confiscating and eating food belonging to others, spending a lot of money on food, missing chores, and spending excessive amounts of time in the bathroom after meals. Both anorexia nervosa and bulimia often include the compulsive use of laxatives, diuretics, diet pills and caffeine. Bulimia and anorexia nervosa are two diseases of a group of problems called "eating disorders." Some experts feel these disorders should be included in a group of diseases called "addictive disorders," which includes alcoholism and drug addiction. Those with a certain personal psychological framework (similar to people who become drug addicts or alcoholics) seem to be susceptible to an eating disorder and may become bulimic or anorexic without meaning to when they "flirt" with distorted eating habits. They do not realize that their actions at any moment can quickly engulf them-and, quite literally, kill them. Bulimia (bingeing and purging) and anorexia (starving) may be due in part to our society's abnormal preoccupation with food, dieting, and weight, especially among high school, college, and young professional females. Experts estimate that half of the coeds at many colleges in the United States regularly use self-induced vomiting to control their body shape and weight.
