Is it possible that cancer in the lung could spread to the brain in as short as a month? |
Someone I know took only two of his chemo treatments and then they stopped giving it to him because he was too sick. It's been a month since he was suppose to get his third one. He's now complaining of dizziness and his right hand is not working. Are these symptoms that it has spread to his brain? He's getting an MRI. "thegospo" is correct. Cancers do not 'suddenly' spread to a new area. They have been there for months or years already and only become large enough to cause symptoms and be seen on MRI or x-ray scans. It is a good thing he is having a MRI done...from what I have heard/read lung cancer can metastize to the brain rather quickly, especially if chem was postponed. I pray for his sake, you and his family that this is not the case but any new symptoms in a cancer patient should be evaluated by the oncologist. Best wishes! unfortunately, lung cancer has a propensity for spread to the brain... it spreads there quickly. it may have spread there early but not been detected on initial tests when he was diagnosed. it is good that he is having an MRI done as this will be pretty definitive for him... im agree that its already there but not big enough to see in the brain as of yet. my mom in law has breast cancer and shed got it in her lungs and bones already and were wondering if she will gt it in her brain or liver. i just wish ur freind all the luck and prayers in the world. It may have spread earlier and not been detected until now. |
