Lung cancer, chances of survival? |
my uncle has been just diagnosed with lung cancer, he was told that the tumor was too large to be operated on and that they can only use chemo. He is been administered morphin at the moment for the pain, he is 53 and has smoked for 35 years! Can anyone tell me what the chances r of him surviving and if there is no chance, what time scale am i looking at About 10 per cent of patients can expect to be 'cured' - that is alive five years after diagnosis with no evidence of the cancer having returned. Only the doctor can give an expectation of time regarding this. quite good.a lot of lung cancer is being treated successfully nowadays.i hope your uncle will be ok.i was diagnosed with throat cancer last year and chemo and radiotheraphy got rid of it and i have been in remission for 15 months now. I'm sorry!! Lung cancer has one of the lowest survival rates. http://www.cancer.org/docroot/NWS/conten... As good as for winning the jackpot in National Lottery. |
