What are signs of Lung Cancer?

My mom just smoked and the house smells bad and theres this weird feeling like near my throat and nose. My mom sprayed some stuff but everytime I breath I smell it.

Please try not to worry, I am sure you are OK, but to answer your question -

The symptoms of lung cancer include:

a chronic cough.

worsening breathlessness.

weight loss.

excessive fatigue.

persistent pain in the chest or elsewhere, (possibly from the cancer spreading to a bone).

symptoms can be due to the original tumour in the lung or to the effects of secondary tumours elsewhere in the body.

one of the most significant symptoms of lung cancer is coughing up blood or haemoptysis. This can sometimes occur as an early warning sign of a cancer which may still be curable. Any person who coughs up blood should see their GP for advice urgently as lung cancer must be considered, particularly if the person is a smoker over the age of 40.

What are the symptoms?

Early lung cancer doesn't usually cause any symptoms. This is why it's not usually found early.

In its advanced stage, cancer may affect how your lungs work. The first signs of lung cancer may include:

* Coughing.
* Wheezing.
* Feeling short of breath.
* Having blood in any mucus that you cough up.

If you have these symptoms and are worried about lung cancer, call your doctor.

Lung cancer may spread to the chest and then to other parts of the body. For example, if it spreads to the spine or bones, it may cause pain in the back or other bones or weakness in the arms or legs. If it spreads to the brain, it may cause seizures, headaches, or vision changes.

What I said:

No, you don't have lung cancer.

What I was sorely tempted to say:

Oh for God's sake. This has to be the stupidest thing anyone has asked in at least five minutes. Of *course* you have lung cancer. You have that weird feeling like near your throat and nose, right? And it's common knowledge that lung cancer is the leading cause of death among eight year olds. So go get a crayon and a sheet of paper and write out your last will and testament quickly before you die so that your best friend gets your teddy and your Raggedy Ann doll.

My symptoms were a chest pain that went through to my back and pain extending down into my shoulder. I was diagnosed right away and began treatment. I was in stage two, so went through 7 weeks of radiation and went through two rounds of chemo. After the first round I still had some of the tumor left so we completed a second round with a stronger chemo drug, right now I'm in remission. Those were the only symptoms I had besides getting winded really easy.
