Why is it that people with advance lung cancer have voices that are deeper than the rest of the population? |
Once I saw an ad on TV of a man who acquired lung cancer because of excessive smoking, his voice sounded like a robot, like extremely deep, which may be interpreted as extremely masculine, right? Anyways, what happens to their respiratory systems? What changes? or what causes this change in the voice? The reason I posted this question in this section is because many gay boys try to be very masculine, and also are attracted to very masculine guys. It seems like it is very hard to compete. I would say that my own voice is not very masculine, and may want to consider making it a little deeper or more masculine. This question belongs here? His voice may have been enhanced or replaced entirely by a device that allows people whose lungs have been destroyed by years of smoking to make communicative sounds. I believe the device works by registering vocal chord vibrations and emitting their sounds, which the individual would otherwise not be able to do. This would explain the "robotic" qualities to his voice that you heard. It's not necessarily cancer that gives you a more husky voice. It is the smoking itself. Smoking gives you a deeper voice over time. If you have family or freinds of the family who are old lady smokers, they are usually rough, wrinkled, and have deep scratchy voices. Smoking does all kinds of things to you, not just cancer. Cause the cancer is probably affecting their voices!! :@) i think that it's just that...the lungs |
