Can u get lung cancer when your 22 yrs old?

It鈥檚 possible, but it has rarely been seen. I know an oncologist who saw 1 patient with lung cancer in their twenties and he has been in practice over 35 years. 0.2% of all lungs cancers occur in patients between 20 and 34 years old.

khayyam - There are different types of lung cancer. Almost all occur in older patients. The usual type of lung cancer from smoking is called squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). I have examined many lung cancers and never seen the usual SCC in anyone as young as you. A type of cancer known as lymphoma is rare and can be found in the lung but is NOT related to smoking. If you or someone else is concerned they should get a routine chest examination by a physician, perhaps with a routine chest x-ray. Other illness besides cancer can cause lung problems and may be found on an X-ray.

Scary truth is you can get just about any cancer at any age.. Nothing is impossible..

yes i got it when i was 21. Age doesn't matter, neither if you smoke or don't smoke. I never smoked a day i my life and got it. i beat it as well.

Chances are slim and you can help keep them that way. Refrain from smoking. (I am a smoker trying to quit)
