Removal of right upper lobe of lung due to lung cancer? |
I'm interested in communication with preferably female, 45-50 yrs of age who has undergone a right upper lobectomy for adenocarcinoma in the past year or longer if your memory is good. Trying to get a handle on the healing aspects and any advice on alleviating pain caused, I think, from the nerves healing. I'm taking 200mg. of B6 a day and the Vicodin my surgeon prescribed does nothing for pain. The pain I feel is not at the incision site but on the lower part of ribs. I'm a 47 yr. old female and had my surgery on May 18, 2006. Any advice or encouraging words would be appreciated. Hi If your pain is caused by the nerve ends-called Neuropathy theijr isamedication called Lyrica that helps alot. At leastit dose with my nerve ending pain. I have not had a lobectomy of any kind but I am a nurse and so I may be able to help you with pain management. I suggest you report your pain to your surgeon. Five months is a long time to be in uncontrolled pain. There are other analgesics for severe pain and some that are controlled release. Inquire about it as soon as you are able. I'm a nurse. Here is a group that many people on here has gone though Just post on the forum www.cysticfibrosis.com I haven't gone through it personally, but my father just had it done last week. He is still in the hospital but is not on any medicine other than antibiotics. He had it done a week ago and is doing fairly well. He had a couple set backs but not feeling to much pain. He has been off the pain medicine for about 4-5 days now. He had that part of his lung removed and the tumor was growing into his chest wall so they had to cut into that too. I don't know why you still have pain but I would certainly check with the doctor. Don't let it go on. I wish you the best. Take care. Sam |
