What is stage 3a in lung cancer? |
the dr. said my 70 yr. old mom has stage 3a in her cancer and told me 4 is the highest so what do i expect from here? its starting to mestastize,or move to other area, spread to other organs. she will get weeker, sicker, eventually loose control of thought awareness, bodily control, the pain will get worse, she will require more and more pain meds till she eventually simply goers to sleep from multiorgan failure Stage 3a is when the arms start to turn black and fall off in chunks. She might want to start wearing slings to catch the pieces, I really recommend it. :) Hope your mom's doing well !!! Good luck !! There are several stages of all cancers. In lung there is stage 3a 3b and 3c. 3a is seriouse as all cancer, but its just the begging...and no her arms will not fall off lol werido. just stick by her and stay positive and dont smoke!!! I'm sorry about your mother. I found a site that says the following about stage 3a (the link is below): "3A can mean one of two things. There is cancer in nodes further away from the affected lung, but still on the same side of the chest. Or there is cancer only in lymph nodes nearest to the affected lung but the cancer has also spread to either the chest wall or the covering of the lung (pleura) or the middle of the chest (mediastinum)." After 3a comes stage 3b and then 4. But hopefully things will get better. You never know what can happen with all the research that is being done, so don't give up hope! http://www.cancerhelp.org.uk/help/defaul... i have to say when some people ask a question on here they wont a answer .. but to get a answer like nchg37 has put is just awlful. if you dont have something to say why say things like that ...her grandmother probably has a year left to live ..from her age and the stage of the cancer .. and you put stuff like that .. Stage IIIA means that the tumor is either very large, or more frequently, that the cancer has spread to lymph nodes in the region of the tumor either in the mediastinum (middle of the chest), or in other parts of the affected lung. Stage 4 is when the cancer has spread to other organs. The treatment for IIIA is to treat with chemo/radiation to shrink the tumor and try to kill the cancer that has spread to the nodes. Hopefully, if this happens, the patient will be upgraded to stage 2 or 1 and the tumor can be removed by surgery. Surgery typically won't be performed on anyone stage 3 or above. |
