Pleural effusion in a pt with non small cell lung cancer. when do you drain it?



DAD HAS STAGE 3B LUNG CX. HAS ALOT OF PAIN

The effusion is drained based on symptoms. Pain or shortness of breath are the prime indicators. Otherwise it is not necessary to routinely drain the effusion if he is asymptomatic.
