After chemotherapy and radiotherapy, what is the next treatment for lung cancer? |
After chemotherapy and radiotherapy, what is the next treatment for lung cancer? Alternative is the next treatment, the info is below the choice is yours. Source(s): http://www.cancertutor.com/ Photodynamic therapy involves the injection of a special toxic chemical into the bloodstream. The chemical is absorbed by the body's cells but rapidly leaves those that are normal, remaining a longer time in the cancer cells. A beam of laser light then is aimed at the tumor to activate the chemical, which in turn destroys the cancer cells. This treatment is used for tumors that are localized to one site but it also may hold promise for patients with advanced lung cancer when the tumor is pressing against other body structures and causing severe symptoms. Photodynamic therapy is experimental and should only be considered in a clinical trial. More resources: http://www.radiologyinfo.org/content/the... Lung cancer treatment planning is very complex. A team of cancer care professionals should be available to discuss all of the options. Combinations of chemotherapy, radiation therapy, or surgery may be of greater value than any single treatment alone. The treatment options for lung cancer are surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, and targeted therapy either alone or in combination, depending on the stage of the tumor. http://www.nccn.org/patients/patient_gls... you can find inf. here. good luck there is none in most cases lung cancer is fatal.my husband died of it in 2004 Unfortunately if it has already metastasized, there isn't a whole lot in terms of curative treatments. Usually radiation is given for palliation after the disease has spread. I heard a story about someone with cancer having excellent luck with Reiki. I know a Reiki master who often volunteers at the local cancer center. it might be worth checking out. |
