What percent of cigarette smokers who smoke their whole lives end up dieing of lung cancer?

What percent of cigarette smokers who smoke their whole lives end up dieing of lung cancer?

The percentage is rather small. However, the reason why the national health institute of any country will always be against smoking is that if you re-phrase your question and ask what percentage of people with lung cancer are smokers, the answer is close to 90%.
There seems to be evidence showing that there is a genetic predisposition to lung cancer that will be triggered by cigarette smoke. If you don't have this genetic background and smoke, your chances of getting lung cancer are really small. However, if you DO have this genetic background and smoke, will most certainly develop lung cancer.
However, cigarette smoking increases the changes of developing a lot more types of cancer than just lung.I don't know the percentage, but a lot of them have. A former girl firend's mother did, prior to 1997.
A good percentage, but non smokers can also get cancer. The smokers get other lung diseases also like emphysema, chronic obstructive airways disease. I still smoke, daft I know!
Don't spread this fact around, but it is less than one percent. But it is far higher in smokers than in non smokers. More damage is done to lungs in terms of emphysema than lung cancer. And don't forget the damage to the vessels to the heart, which cigarette smoking accelerates.
The number one cause of death in smokers is ....................

Heart Disease!

Heart disease is a 'side-effect' of smoking, as are lung and other cancers.
