Sound like lung cancer ?

please people with experience.i am 21 and have smoked for 10 yrs i am short of breath i cough and have some flem not the green nasty kind just spit and a little mucus i wheez a little i have a pain between my right shoulderblade and spine. difficulty swallowing it feels like a toothpick is wedged between my food pipe and lung recently i lost my appetite and some weight i had a chest xray that was normal i've been feeling like this for 2 mo now an ideas.

Pain between the shoulder blade and spine CAN be referred pain from a segment in the lung. However, it is usually accompanied by other symptoms...significant hypersensitivity to touch of the shoudlder, pain especially at night that is unrelenting and does not change with a change in position. Night sweats, rapid weight loss, chills. Pain in the absence of these other symptoms, however, may be indicative of a musculoskeletal problem such as a neck problem.

Continue to follow up with your physician if you have these symptoms...it may or may not be related to tumor, but it is a sign that something is systemically wrong.

My own mother had her first chest x-ray come back clear. They claimed her pain was due to fibromyalgia. It wasnt' until a chiropractor ordered an MRI on the neck that they saw the tumor in the top segment of the lung.

These symptoms that I described are known as "red flag" symptoms...signs that something medical is going on. I wish I knew then what I know now....

Good luck to you and keep investigating. Source(s): I am a physical therapist.
I would definitely go to the doc before it gets worse
The chest x-ray is the number one indicator of lung cancer.
I'm 30 and have chest pain constantly and smoke but my x-ray came back normal, too.
The mucus you describe is definitely from smoking. If you stop it will go away. I don't know about the pain though- I have it too. I'm sure it's from smoking and my pain stops if I quit for a day but I never quit permanently. ugh
First of all calm down. I'm a 15 year Survivor, but with Breast Cancer not lung cancer, maybe I can help a little anyway. I can't believe going though what you are feeling right now, but stop take a breath and instead of beating yourself up and wondering what's going on, go directly to your doctor or clinic or hospital emergency ward and find out. The fear will overtake you otherwise. If you have just had a clear chest X-ray chances are things are going to be okay. Are you willing to stop smoking??? most of what you describe would probably clear up over time. Get into how to breathe properly and clear out the lungs, moist heat works wonders for coughing up the bad stuff....and our bodies want to be healthy, eat right, clean air, deep breathing and a little relaxation therapy...I have no doubt you'll be okay....my prayers are with you.
If you have smoked for 10 years, you could be experiencing pleurisy.
