How does anti DNA antibody work in lupus?

How does anti DNA antibody work in lupus?

by attacking and destroying the chromosomal dna bands ,and altering the gene expression ,and protein synthesis

All your cells naturally die, break down, and are replaced. When they die and break down, the debris goes into the blood stream. Part of that debris is the DNA from the old cells.

But you have immune cells (anti-DNA) that are brain damaged and think the DNA is an enemy. So they attach themselves to it. Then they call the white cells to surround it. The white cells release an enzyme to help dissolve the DNA. This whole process results in huge molecules called immune complexes and also in inflammation.

The immune complexes are supposed to be cleared out by the spleen. But the immune cells who are supposed to take the trash to the spleen for removal are lazy and confused. They drop off the garbage in other organs like the kidneys, lungs, and joints causing more inflammation.

A repeated cycle of inflammation, healing and scarring results in permanent organ damage.
