Anyone know anything about Lupus? |
I have recently started experiencing white fingers and toes. I have seen a doc, been to an ortho as well thinking it was maybe a pinched nerve. MRI came back normal so was referred to another doc. Anyway, after talking to this dr for some time she decided to test me for Lupus. I got my bloodwork done yesterday. She tested me for ANA, and RH factors. Is there anything else that she should have been looking for? Thank you for your responses! A diagnosis of lupus used to be a death sentence as recently as the 1950's. Now, with good medical treatment and compliance with the treatment regimen, most lupus patients can expect to live a normal life span. My mom has Lupus (along with many other things) and she copes with it ok. She was diagnosed with it right after I was born, so 23 years ago. Even though she has it I still don't know all that much about it. But depending on how severe your case is determines your prognosis I would assume. She just gets tired real easy and if she's out in the sun for a while she gets weak. Her neck also swells sometimes (like theres a tennis ball on her shoulder) but that doesn't happen very often. I know theres much more to the disease but thats all I have to put in about it really. I hope some others have better info. No one can give you a prognosis and I wouldn't even dare to try. Only your doctor should do that. Also, the test she took are initial test to determine what is wrong. If she is not satisfied, she will order additional test. Trust your doctor, if you are not satisfied with her answers, then see a specialist on Lupus. I can give you symptoms of lupus. I will tell you this, my daughter also suffers from white fingers and toes. Her doctor said it was a circulatory problem. So who knows it seems they all different answers. I am going to look in my medical book and check out sign and symptoms for you. |
