Has anyone ever had systemic lupus, does it get better?

Has anyone ever had systemic lupus, does it get better?

I have SLE and I suppose you could say I've got "better" as most of my symptoms are much improved since I was properly diagnosed and get the right treatment. However I still get fatigued very easily and have to pace all my activities or I get bad flare ups where my symptoms are worse (I also have to take care in sunlight as this can also cause flare ups).
Lupus affects everyone slightly differently - some people seem to be mild cases and others are very severe. There are also cases of "drug induced" lupus which have all the same symptoms as SLE but which do get better when the drug in question is stopped
There is no cure for lupus (only treatment to help those with lupus live as "normally" as possible), so once you have Lupus you will have it for life, and will need monitoring by the medical profession, however a lot of old info calls lupus "life threatening" and I think this is a bit outdated as although lupus is a serious disease life expectancy is much better thanks to better diagnosis, monitoring and treatments
some really good web sites about lupus are

Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE or lupus) is a chronic autoimmune disease that can be fatal, though with recent medical advances, fatalities are becoming increasingly rare. As with other autoimmune diseases, the immune system attacks the body鈥檚 cells and tissue, resulting in inflammation and tissue damage. SLE can affect any part of the body, but most often harms the heart, joints, skin, lungs, blood vessels, liver, kidneys and nervous system. The course of the disease is unpredictable, with periods of illness (called flares) alternating with remission. Lupus can occur at any age, and is most common in women, particularly of non-European descent.[1] Lupus is treatable symptomatically, mainly with corticosteroids and immunosuppressants, though there is currently no cure. However, many people with Lupus lead long and substantial lives.

I have never had it, but there is some good information on nutrition on the internet available. It can get better with proper nutrition and avoidance of toxins. See the websites below for some good information.

I work with a woman in her 30s that suffers from lupus and although she only works part time she seemed to live a perfectly normal active life, however, she is very susceptible to other illnesses and about a year ago she developed labrynthitus(sp?) whilst on a boat on holiday. That seemed to effect her far worse than the lupus but it seems to have calmed down a lot recently and she's going back to normal life.

Sometimes, lupus symptoms are known to be caused by infection(s),such as borreliosis lyme disease.
In which case the treatment would mainly be antibiotics.
The doctors at the private hospital below explore such possibilities and offer treatment if needed.
