My friend was just dignoised with lupus?

My friend is 11 and was just diognoised with lupus and i have no idea what that is can you explain it to me?Can you die from it?What does it do? thanks

To be brief, Lupus is an auto-immune disease, in which the body can't tell the difference between its own cellls and foreign substances. This means that the body fights itself, which can cause sickness, organ problems, inflammation, rash, arthritis, generally feeling bad, etc. There's not a cure for it, but there are treatments for some of the symptoms. It can become serious over time, but people can manage it and live long and full lives with it.

Lupus is an autoimmune disorder that causes joint inflammation amongst other things. Basically its like the body is attackiong itself. I don't beleive its deadly. My sister has it and is on medication to suppress the symptoms. Just be supportive of your friend. I'm sure she'll be ok with proper medical care.

The easiest way to explain lupus is that you know when you get a cold and your body fights the cold germs, this is done by the immune system sending out antibodies like little soldiers to fight the germs, well with lupus your body looks at your friends body like a germ and attacks it. this attack can be bad and then stop and rest for a while bt it does not go away. the worst thing is that when the lupus attacks the body it can do permanent damage but with the right medicines this damage can be controlled and sometimes prevented. without thes medicines your friend could die, but with the help of the medicines she should live a long life, while the medicines do prevent damage to your friends body, she will still have good days and bad days where she will be very sore and maybe not able to do the things that you can do. you as a friend are being so nice finding out about lupus -so that you can be there for her when she feels bad.
