Any tips for getting past the fatigue associated with Lupus/RA?

The pain in the joints hasn't been so bad lately..its the fatigue thats been really getting to me lately

Try to rest before you get exhausted.

Rethink your standards.

Let others help you.

Believe it or not, mild to moderate exercise will end up giving you more energy. Consider yoga (gaiam.com has a great chair yoga dvd), tai chi or chi qong. It will lubricate your joints and give you energy.

Learn to meditate.

Read/watch uplifting things.

Stay in the present moment as much as you can. Worrying about the future is exhausting in itself, even more so when you have chronic illness.

Do small good deeds for others. Send a card. Make a phone call. Smile at someone who looks lonely or afraid. You will be surprised at how that, too, can energize you.

Work on your diet. Increase fresh fruits and veggies, reduce processed foods, reduce fat especially animal fat.

Learn to ask yourself "What's Important Now"

All of these things are way to take charge of what you can. Give them a try. If they don't work, discard them. If they do work, incorporate them into your life.

If you don't mind taking a prescription medication, ask your doctor about Provigil (Modafinil). It is a non-central nervous system stimulant that "promotes wakefulness." Typical given to people with narcolepsy and other sleep disorders. I take it to counter the effects of other medications I'm on, and it works very well.
If you do not want to go that route, supplement your diet with extra B vitamins, specifically B-6 and B-12.

Just do not overdue it and get plenty of rest. Take your vitamins.
