Lupus sufferers qualify for disability?

Do people that suffer from lupus qualify for disability? (systemic lupus erythematosus)

It is extremely difficult to get disabilty with lupus. Although I did get disability from my private insurance company, I was rejected by social security 3 times. I have major organ involvement-heart, lungs, bone marrow and kidneys and had been fired from two jobs because I could not keep up.

There is a new regulation pending with the social security administration that would require us to submit all updated medical info within 5 days of a hearing. Imagine trying to get in to see half a dozen specialists and get their reports in within just 5 days? If we fail, the case is tossed out, you have to start a new case and lose all back pay. Wow, and we have just spent one TRILLION DOLLARS in Iraq. Go figure.

yes very much, lupus its a serious disease [my grand ma has it]

Disability = SSDI I am assuming. In that case here are the criteria:

According to the Social Security Administration (SSA), a person qualifies for SSDI if they:

have a physical or mental condition that prevents them from engaging in any "substantial gainful work", and
the condition is expected to last at least 12 months or result in death, and
they are under the age of 65, and
have worked 5 out of the last 10 years.
Medical proof is needed to show their inability to work. They must also meet a strict SSA medical listing for their condition, or if their condition does not meet the requirements of a listing, their residual functional capacity is considered along with their age, past relevant work and education in determining their ability to perform either their past work or other work generally available in the national economy. There is a list of Social Security disability impairment criteria, broken down by specific conditions, on the SSA website.

Yes.
