I have lupus and i had burned my lip and after that Ive had continuous swelling of my top lip and blistering.?

I am 20 years old and i have lupus. I was diagnosed with mild lupus in 2005. i just got real sick out of no where i went back and fourth to the doctor and still they didnt know what was wrong with me until finally a specialist came in and noticed spots on my feet and redness of the face. i was treated with prednisone and hydroxychloroquine. I am now only taking hydroxychloroquine and iron

It could be infected or just taking a long time to heal. The prednisone can decrease your immunity for a while after you stop taking it.

I have lupus, too. Since I don't have horrible organ involvement my doc lets me manage mine using steroids very sparingly. I usually need steroids a couple times a year for 2 weeks to a month when I have a flare.

Lupus can be a pain, but it doesn't have to slow you down to much. If you want to talk feel free to email me- just click on my avatar and you can email from the link on the profile.

After a while you get used to the pain & fatigue and you just deal with it. I'm not saying it gets fun, but it doesn't have to stop you from doing anything (except sunbathing : ) )

i would go back to the doctor you need special care with your illness

Hi, first of all, know that I am not a doctor so I cannot give out medical advice, but I am a patient. I am sorry you are one also and going thru some challenges. It's not the greatest way to live, but you do. :)

Second - there is no such thing as "mild" lupus. You either have it or you don't. Is your specialist a Rheumatologist? That's a doctor who specializes in autoimmune diseases.

You have "flares" and times of "remission" or when your lupus is not as active, but it will always be there.

If you're not healing, please go to your Rheum and let them know. They need to see your med list and check what is going on with you.

You need to stay out of the sun, not eat alfalfa, educate yourself on lupus and find a support system so you are not alone.

It's wonderful that the other woman offered herself. So do we.

Take everyone up on their offer. Stay in touch with other patients.

Know that you are not alone.

Take care.
