Will a blood test reveal lupus?

I have anaemia but also several other lupus symptoms such as arthritis in some joints, inability to open and close hands, irratibility and a facial rash requiring cortisone cream.

There are tests to help determine lupus. One is called an antinuclear antibody (ANA) that checks for autoimmune disorders. Another that they check is called a lupus anticoagulant or dilute Russell viper vemon test. This test is specific for lupus.

Has your doctor done a PTT? Another symptom of lupus is an elevated PTT without being on anticoagulants.

I'm not sure, but I think it is called a Nuclear Antibody test. Its a blood test. I just had it, and can't recall what it is.Ask your doctor to do one. they send it to the Mayo clinic.
