Was I misdiagnose? lupus or weak immune system?

8 months ago while I was pregnant, I was diagnose with lupus. But the only symptoms that I am experiencing is joints pain and fatique some times. My doctor said that all of my organs are fine, I do not have a butterfly face neither skin problem. I wonder if the diagnosis was wrong.

Does a weak immune system can cause thoses symptoms? I refuse to go on hormones treatments and trying to work on strenghtening my immune system first and hopefully reverse the condition.

your experience and advise are welcome

lupus is many stages ,and there is discoid and systemic lupus ,the immune system isnt weak in lupus its reacting in a way damaging the body and causing problems and inflammations ,if your diagnosis wasnt correct or u doubt it ,get a second opinion from a rheumatologist ,diagnosing lupus isnt easy in early stages and once diagnosed many go through remissions and relapse ,

You do not have to have skin problems or the butterfly rash to have lupus. Also, if the disease has just started, your organs would still be fine, especially if you are still very young.

Lupus is when your immune system is attacking your body. It is an overactive immune system. It isn't a weak immune system. It usually presents itself when someone is in their 20's or 30's. And unfortunately it is hereditary. Doesn't automatically mean it will be passed on, but it can be (that goes with any autoimmune disease).

If you do have lupus and you try to strengthen your immune system, you will make the lupus worse.

You cannot reverse lupus unfortunately. There is no cure. It is permanent, at least until someone can develop a cure. The only current possible option is experimental, and it can kill you - a bone marrow transplant. Because it is experimental most insurance companies will not cover the cost. Plus, there is no guarantee that a bone marrow transplant would rid you of lupus.

I would suggest always getting a second opinion. However, if they did a blood test and you had a + ANA test, odds are you do have some sort of autoimmune disease. That is probably how they determined you had lupus (blood test and symptoms).

Unfortunately the only treatments are things like prednisone (a steroid), methotrexate, plaquenil, NSAIDs, etc.

I hope you don't have lupus, but if you do, you can still live a long fairly normal life with it as long as you do keep a healthy lifestyle (eat healthy, no alcohol, no caffiene), exercise, and take your medications.

If you do have lupus and do not take medications to help suppress your immune system some, then the disease will attack everything - organs, skin, joints, etc. and you would not live a long life.

You really do need to go see a good rheumatologist, have them test you, and if you do have an autoimmune disease, let them help educate you and treat you.

I'm sorry you have Lupus. Can you please tell me your symptoms? I'm curious cause I think my mother has this.

thanks

first of all work on your immune system. this can cause you to pick up all kinds of viruses. you are experiencing the first symptoms of immune system problems. do what the doctor suggests and remember that all symptoms are different in different people. there is skin lupus and internal lupus. look up both types.
