After donating blood, I was called and told I had lupus. Is there a chance it's true?

What symptoms would someone typically display? Even though I've looked them up on the internet, not all are usually seen in most cases. Information about the probability would be very much appreciated. :-)

1. There is no definitive lab test for lupus. The lab was wrong to call you and say you have lupus. Call them back, ask for a copy of the lab results, ask what exactly in the lab results makes them think you have lupus. When you are done with that, call and ask for a supervisor.

2. Lupus is diagnosed this way:
a. A variety of lab tests
b. Symptoms
c. Medical history
d. After ruling out other disorders

3. It takes the typical lupus patient 3-5 years and 3-4 doctors to get diagnosed. If it was as easy as a blood test, that would not be the case.

4. Most common symptoms are aching and swollen joints, profound fatigue, fevers that last for a long time, chest pain on deep breathing. There are others. See the link below.

5. Take the lab results to your doctor and ask for a referral to a rheumatologist if necessary.

Check it out with your own doctor.

If that's true then the sooner you get treatment the better. Don't wait. Go to the dr. and tell him or her you need to be tested for lupus. If the test is positive they can send you to the right specialist.

Yeah, you shoud ask your own doctor because they most
likely they tested your blood with Antinuclear antibody (ANA)

This cheap and reproducible test is the 'screening test' for
lupus, being positive in over 90% of cases. It is not specific for lupus but because of its simplicity is a useful first step in diagnosis.

Lupus is now almost invariably diagnosed by blood tests. These invoke a small amount of blood and are extremely sensitive. There are five major blood tests carried out on the blood sample.

Your doctor could provide better test specifically designed for Lupus like; DNA antibodies, ENA, Antiphospholipid antibodies, Antiphospholipid antibodies and Complement tests

if they called you it is very possible. Blood banks routinely test blood when recieved to ensure the blood is not diseased or infected when given to someone else.

If they told you you had it,it's true, not all cases are found,if you are not experinceing any symptoms,it's probably in its eary stages, you could start treatment now.
