What is the best weather for lupus?

i want my mother to move back to massachussetts were all here family is ..she has systemic lupus crythematosus and thought it was best to moved to North Carolina 3 years ago and lives alone.... but im reading about it and it seems like hot weather is worst can anyone help me out ...thanks

I have systemic lupus erythematosus with organ involvement and live alone (happily) in Florida. Trust your mother to know what is best for her. She has lupus, she is not a child.

Sun is bad for lupus patients, not necessarily hot weather. Sun makes lupus flare.

Cold does not exacerbate lupus, but it sure makes joints that are already sore and stiff, feel a lot worse. If she has Raynaud's along with lupus, as many of us do, the cold is not only downright painful but can cause permanent damage.

I am 56 and a grandmother. After my diagnosis 5 years ago (I was hospitalized for 14 days), my grown sons began treating me like I needed them to watch over me. They were wrong, and it irritated me no end. They are now over that. But I have several friends who think it is their job to tell me to rest, or do this or do that. Your mother is an adult. She has a right to make her own decisions about where she lives. It's not about what you want, it's about what she wants.

I suspect you came here looking for ammunition to convince her to move. North Carolina is a beautiful place. If she is happy, then let her be happy. Your pressure to get her to move back creates stress and THE SINGLE WORST THING FOR LUPUS PATIENTS IS STRESS! So in your efforts to convince her to move back because you think it is better for her health, you are creating pressure and stress for her which will do just the opposite.

It's her life, she gets to decide.
