Can you join the Military (marines) if you have MCTD/Lupus/& Arthritis? |
I'm only 16, but i have MCTD, Lupus, Rheumatoid Arthritis + more. My dad was in the Marine Corps. and i want to follow in his footsteps. I just don't know if I am able to can you please help me. I also had heart surgery when i was 12 does that matter? Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but both Lupus and Rheumatoid Arthritis are automatic disqualifiers for ANY branch of the service. Your desire to serve your country is very much appreciated. There are other ways to serve that don't require a physical though. Volunteering at a VA Hospital jumps to mind... it does dq you but i will say this at least you have the want to join! It is more than many others can say. I will also say that another thing i highly respect is people who volunteer there time in a USO. The people with that organization have saved my skin may times and always have a kind word. Do not lose that patriotic spirit! Yes it does and regretfully you would be disqualified physically for military service. You thoughts and aspirations are noble and you should look into doing something in government possibly or working with the military as a government employee. Nope. Too many preentry ailments that will not get better and will probably get worse in the military. Lupus and Rheumatoid Arthritis are both disqualifying for entry into the armed forces. no. Lupus and RA are PDQs no waiver authorized. I think you will be able to serve your country in the state department and department of defense. |
