Would it be disastrous for a person who has lupus to date someone with MRSA?

I've met the most wonderful man online, and am considering meeting him in person ( at some point. ) Tonight, when we talked on the phone he confided in me that he has MRSA.

I looked it up and the info I saw said that people with compromised immune systems are particularly at risk. I know my lupus meds suppress my immune system, so I am very concerned.

I am just trying to educate myself. He mentioned that he'd been ostracized unfairly because of his condition. And I surely don't want to be yet another person who does that to him.

However, I also want to live and be as healthy as possible. Am I flirting with disaster to date someone with MRSA?

It would definitely be dangerous for anyone with a compromised immune system to have extended close contact with someone infected with MRSA. While most infections are not serious, they can be life-threatening.
