Lupus family? |
can she has children ? It is possible for a woman with lupus to have children, but there are certain risks involved. Currently, there is a 10% risk of miscarriage in all lupus pregnancies. Also, there is a greater risk of premature birth. Infants also have a greater risk of developing IUGR (intra-uterine growth retardation). In addition to the risks for the infant, there are also risks to the mother. In some cases, pregnancy has caused lupus flares. If you are interested in starting a family, I strongly recommend you talk to a doctor about the risks and tests involved with pregnancy. I have SLE. I was diagnosed after I had my daughter but I have been told by my doctor that I had it while I was pregnant. Women can have good pregnancies with Lupus. Some of the medications may have to be stopped though. They can harm the fetus. I take Plaquinel and I would not take it if I was pregnant again. Hope this helps :-) |
