How do you get Lupus under control? |
My sister has been struggling for a long time and is getting worse . Does any one have any expirence with keeping this disease under control? Systemic lupus erythematosis can be fairly mild, responsive to drug therapy, and may wax and wane. It may even go into remission. However, in some patients, for reasons that are not understood, it can be an aggressive disease that is resistant to treatment, and that effects many important systems of the body including the heart, kidneys, joints, skin, and brain. The best thing your sister can do is to get hooked up with a state of the art Rheumatology clinic, with doctors who are up to date on the latest advances in lupus treatment. Such clinics are often in university medical centers. These clinics often participate in big studies with newer drugs that they may offer patients with lupus that isn't helped by usual medicines. Also, she should get involved with the Lupus Foundation, a clearinghouse for solid information and advocay for lupus patients and their families. http://www.lupus.org i never have lupus before and never will but my sister almost died from that ashmea attack. there is no such thing as Lupus...no offense, but your sister may need to talk to a psychiatrist. Lupus plays havoc on the auto immune system. Try to rid yourself of all stressors to begin with. Then find supplemental nutrition that will increase your immune system. At least that's a start. What in the world is that comment above about no such thing as Lupus. It is an autoimmune disease that can be very devastating and can kill you! Are you an idiot?? |
