Does anyone know if Lupus and menstruation issues are related? |
My Dr's have been leaning to lupus as a diagnosis for me . Just since Oct last year I started having issues with my periods being too close together at less then a15 day cycle (star to start) . my doc says I'm too young for menopause (31)and cant feel anything wrong in an exam..... pap has been sent and ultrasound scheduled .... hoping to know if anyone out there with lupus or farmiliar with can let me know if there are links between short periods and lupus... thank you all Well, I have both Lupus and APS so I am on Coumadin. I have been on Coumadin since 2002 and my periods were soo light it was crazy (the why bother). All the sudden in 2005, they went nuts. They had to put me on Micronor. So far so good, but not the greatest to take with the APS. But, I don't think mine is related to the Lupus and I don't think it is the Coumadin either really. I think there are hormones that are changing in me. You probably will find out more when you get the ultrasound. They may want to biopsy too...so be prepared for that. All of my stuff came back fine which left me with more questions than answers. I have an aunt who has Lupus and I know she had early menopause at around 35. I dont know if they are related though. Good luck to you in this hard time. I know what it is like to go through this typw of thing. I was Dx'ed with MS almost 2 years ago at 19.. if you need to talk you can message me privately.. you'll be in my thoughts! my cousin was diagnosed with lupus and used to get sores all over her body. She also used to take a lot of Ibuprofen , which has been linked to Stevens Johnson's Syndrome, that has chickenpox like sores on the body. Here are some pics of the sores these people have http://www.sjsupport.org/htmldata/reacti... She had a heart attack with brain damage. She is off the Ibuprofen (and doesn't think about it ) and she has not had the sores since (may be a coincidence, maybe not)... This reaction is not just reaction to Ibuprofen, but also phenobarbital, I believe and maybe a couple other drugs.. Some people on the gluten free possible undiagnosed problems with gluten allergy, but that would be a big step to take for something that has not been proven...only a speculation.. |
