Is there a link between lupus and Fibromyalgia?

Is there a link between lupus and Fibromyalgia?

No but lupus can result in symptoms like fibro.

Lupus is a systemic autoimmune disorder that results in inflammation all over the body as the body attacks itself. This means that massive amounts of TNF (Tumor Necrosis Factor) are released. This TNF is what causes inflamed joints, mild fevers, general malaise and cellular damage. It is treated with doses of steriods and COX 1 &2 inhibition (anti-inflammatories)

Now Fibromyalgia is a poorly understood disease, but its symptoms are very similar to anything causing a high TNF release. There is some suggestion that it is a post viral syndrome or has links to autonomic nervous system disfunction but nothing is concrete at this time. Its origins are still ideopathic, but there is a lot of suggestive research

Here is an information sheet link from the Mayo Clinic

My friend has fibromyalgia and she says it doesnt often appear as an illness in itself, it is usually along with a seperate condition. So I guess its possible that a person with lupus could develop fibromyalgia. Other than that I dont know if they are linked in any other way.
These problems often go hand in hand with lyme disease-another condition many doctors diagnose badly

both are auto immune diseases. i had fibromyalgia. medical doctors said there was no cure. a homeopathic doctor cured me. try a complete food/body detox diet along with a colon cleanse. toxic build up in your digestive tract will impair your immune system. a very good internal cleanse kit can be purchased at 1-800-408-1525, for about $70. a detox diet only takes three weeks. no sugar no salt no processed foods no meat. fruits veggies fish and lots of oatmeal. supplement your diet with vitamins, acidophilus, cayenne, fish oil, and psyllium fiber everyday. eat only 100% heart healthy whole wheat breads and pastas. no more white breads, ever. good luck. also, take msm in powder form daily.
i visit the prohealth chat rooms. there are a couple of ppl in that chat that have both illnesses.
