Would like more info on LUPUS?

What would you like to know? I have lupus, myself. It is an autoimmune disease.... your body loses it's ability to distinguish it's own healthy cells from invading cells. So, you are using up a lot of your energy and your body tissues are inflamed and destroyed.

Meds can control lupus, today. Most people with lupus live normal lifespans, but there is no cure....so, ususally, you must take the meds for a long period of time.... Acutually, unless you go into a remission...which is possible.

Lupus has affected my skin and joints, primarily. But, it can affect any part of the body. Where you run into trouble is if it affects your lungs or your kidneys....then it can be life-threatening.

It is treated with anti-malarial drugs (plaquenil), anti-inflammatories, sometimes predinisone, and sometimes methotrexate...for the more serious cases.

Email me if you have any questions!

There is also a book, called The Lupus Book...by Daniel J. Wallace...that is like the lupud Bible.

and try... www.arthritis.org

Don't let it scare you....most times it is manageable and you can lead a fairly normal life.
