Does anyone hear suffer from LUPUS? |
My mum has been in remission for a few years now although she does experience various symptoms to a lesser or greater degree a lot of the time. For the past 9 months she has had severe neck pain that she describes as starting in her neck and going up over her head. It's not so bad when she sits upright, but as soon as she sits in an easy chair or slouches a bit, the pain is excruciating. We're not sure if this is Lupus related. She has been for scans and x-rays, been to a physio, worn a neck brace, taken various anti inflammatories and pain killers, but to no avail. Has anyone else experienced this symptom with Lupus and if so, any success in finding a way to relieve it? Many thanks for you time Im so sorry that your mum is suffering from this very cruel debilitating condition. As I know you will be aware lupus affects so many internal organs so working out if this is lupus related is not easy, as the painful neck could be down to usual wear and tear etc. Musco skeletal injury, back pain, knee pain etc often presents itself as neck and head pain. Has she thought about a neuromuscular consultation? to eliminate the chance that she may have accumulative strain through holding herself stiffly? The fact that the pain is worse when she slouches seems to point to it being a lower back problem? (We are all really good at standing on one leg if the other one hurts therefore damaging the good leg etc) A neuromuscular therapist could show her how to relax, how to move in pattern, and how to recognise when her everyday movements are taking her into pain? Good luck to you both Could her neck be,out of alignment. Maybe a pinched nerve. I'm not sure but it might not have anything to do with lupus. I can't think of the name right now but there is a condition where the brain is herniated at the base of the skull. It's hard to diagnose but she might want to get a cat-scan just to be sure that's not it. I found a site that has a few alternitive names Herniation syndrome; Transtentorial herniation; Uncal herniation; Subfalcine herniation; Tonsillar herniation; Herniation - brain. A brain herniation is the displacement of brain tissue, cerebrospinal fluid, and blood vessels outside the compartments in the head that they normally occupy. A herniation can occur through a natural opening at the base of the skull (called the foramen occipitalis) or through surgical openings created by a craniotomy procedure. Hope this helps. lololololololololololololololo... i know someone who has lupus and i know that she started to lose her hair because of it i am terribly sorry for your mother and i wish you two the best of luck there is all kinds of stuff with lupus use a heat pad a lot that is the only way I can get relief in my neck good to talk to some one else good luck lavern |
