Does anyone know alot about Lupus? |
My mom has Lupus and growing up with her having it wasnt the best me, my sister and dad never saw her she was always sleeping and her bones are soo weak she hits her toe on something she breaks it, shes ALWAYS taking houndred of pills that makes her in a different world, and she has sezures. I never really knew of anyone else that has it or even someone that knows someone that has it. Can anyone tell me much about it? My mom has lupus also. It doesn't seem to be as severe but all I really know about it is that it is an immune system disorder. My mom tends to have a really hard time getting over little colds and other similar things. My mom used to be on steroids for it too. They made her gain some weight but I was young so I don't recall all the side affects. If you want to know anything else I can ask her! Good luck! lupus affects the joints of the body along with the major organs. it is a slow and painful process. Prayer is the best medicine. My sis in law has it, caused by possible low immune system, symptoms are inflamed joints, organs, can cause some small hair loss, also sensitive to sunlight, she takes anti inflammatory pills and steroids, seems always tired, and can't stand lighting in the mall etc (pains in the legs, knees, arms back but no seizures) But she keeps going and has a great sense of humour, it is treatable, has your mom got a good doc? Ok well she is lucky to have a caring daughter like you on her side and as long as she has some mobility then there is hope. It's a good idea to always research about it on the net too and look for new treatments if they arise so when she sees the doc she can have any new ideas cos docs generally use the drugs that they are used to prescribing. Best wishes to you and your mom. without know what kind of Lupus your mother has, the best i can do is send you to www.wikipedia.com and you can look for your answers there. Just type in Lupus and it will bring up a lot of different sites to check out. Good luck and my prayers are with you! Hi. I'm sorry about your mom. After like three years, I finally got a correct diagnosis, not lupus (& rheumatoid arthritis), but fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis. But for like two years I thought I had lupus. My first cousin has it. I know that it makes people very, very tired. I'm not sure about the weak bones, that may be some form of arthritis (not a doctor though...). I found that there are many good books (I know, more reading) on the subject. Even look up lupus and you'll get a lot of information. I think there is a Lupus Foundation as well that you can find on line. I know that people get what's called a "butterfly rash" across their face like a racoon mask. I know that she's tired but they say that exercise is one of the best ways to make one feel better, especially warm water therapy. Myself. Lupus Foundation? Reading books. I do not have lupus myself, but i do have RA. I am on a great site for autoimmune diseases. you are welcome and encouraged to stop by and get lots of information. We are a fun group and we have lots of people with lots of different diseases and experiences. We share stories, info and tears. Check us out, you wont be disppointed. 4ratalk.com |
