Should I get a second opinion - LUPUS?

Hello everyone,
My doctor recently wanted to test me for Lupus. My ANA test came back as positive with a low titer. I know this can happen in healthy people as well. As such, my doctor simply mailed me the results and did not request further testing. I am not really concerned about it at this point, but I was considering seeing a rheumatologist. Anyone have any experience in this area?

In order to make a diagnosis of lupus you need to have a rheumatologist.

The rheumatologist will take a history, pay attention to your symptoms, and may order other lab tests.

If everything else is ruled out, and you meet 4 of the 11 American College of Rheumatology criteria for lupus you will get that diagnosis.

It is important to have a diagnosis because, if left untreated, lupus can cause permanent organ damage.

As you are probably aware, Lupus can be a very serious disease. Seeing a rheumatologist is an excellent idea
Go for the second opinion. See the rheumatologist. Don't ever take only ONE physician's word for law. Doctors can make mistakes and overlook things that another doctor might see.

Lupus can be deadly. This is nothing to mess around with!!
A Rheumatologist is who would need to give a legit diagnosis. Please be tested for Antiphospholipid Syndrome at the same time. This can occur with or without Lupus. but is what causes microclotting and serious organ damage in Lupus patients. Many of the symptoms are the same, but most are not tested for this. I have Primary Antiphospholipid Syndrome.
