I have a friend she has lupus, she is having itchy rashes, lower back pain, swellen of the joints trouble? |
sleeping. She is on about 14 medications daily. She was very sick last year and I am just scared she runs back and forth to this and that doctor to no avail. They are constantly perscribing meds, and she is taken pain meds on a daily and now she is even on a sleeping medication. and of course they have perscribe an anti-depressant. Yesterday she went to the ER and she was admitted? Please help serious responses please she is in her late 30's?? I'm sorry your friend is going through so much. Lupus is an autoimmune disorder. She needs to look for a doctor who specializes in that field. One of the best books on the subject is "Living Well With Autoimmune Disease" by Mary Shomon. It's great that you're looking out for her! My son is 13 and was diagnosed with Lupus (Rhumatoid). The disease attacks the joints in his knees and he can barely walk at times. Although there is no known cure for Lupus, there are new technologies being introduced in the medical field all the time. Being a good friend is of more value to her than all the medication. They may come out with a medication that will treat the symptoms and give her a normal life in the future. Keep praying for her. The power of prayer is underestimated. It kind of sounds like shingles, characterized by pain around your midsection, rashes there as well. It's similar to chicken pox virus. What i'm reading say's that it is thought to be brought on when the immune system is weakened by age, stress, the flu, or certain immune-impairing drugs or illnesses. good luck :) Lupus is a really complicated illness, with remissions (no illness) and exacerbations (sick times). It is not uncommon for people to be on several meds at once. It is usually treated by a rheumatologist, and if your friend is having a rough time, just try and be supportive. Often during the sick times she may need a lot of treatment. The major organs of the body can be affected, so yes, she needs the meds---and lots of doctor visits. I am glad her doctors are treating her for depression, as she may well need it. Lots of luck to her--- There really is no end to the prescribing and medications, you will find as one situation is medicated, another one will pop up, and they will give you another prescription for that issue. The very best she could do is try to go to a naturopathic Dr. that will look at the issue from a whole body stand point rather than a symptom stand point. Doctors prescribe for symptoms with out first trying to find the under lining issue.
