My friend has been diagnosed with Lupus is this a serious illness? YES,Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease in which the immune system,for unknown reasons,becomes hyperactive and attacks normal tissue.The attack results in inflammation and brings about symptoms. no it is not very serious but it does make you joints hurt. but luckly it was caught early. It can be serious but there are medications usually steriods for the inflammation problems. Some people have problems with the kidneys. The body attacks itself. It is an autoimmune disorder. A rhuematologist will treat the symptoms and hopefully the patient will be more comfortable. I'm not sure how serious it is in your friend's case but back in high school, a friend of mine died from Lupus... |
