Mangosteen. Has anyone tried this for treating Lupus (SLE), please? |
Is there anyone who has Lupus (Systemic Lupus erythamatosis) and treated themselves successfully with Mangosteen (the fruit from Asia) either the juice or the capsules, and found that their health has improved as a result. Also if anyone has suffered with severe digestive problems and found Mangosteen has helped, it would be great to hear from them. I am trying to help someone with Lupus who, although currently on highly toxic medications, has little problem with the Lupus itself these days and leads a normal life. Blood tests are excellent and his consultant is very pleased. My friend only sees his consultant once a year but the consultant insists my friend remains on this dangerous medication, just in case things flare up again! Unfortunately, after almost 10 years, these medications are causing other unneccesary health problems and my friend is now 45. Our research into Mangosteen has been interesting. Can you give us your personal experience please? No doctors, please! A lotof these considered opinions are just plain wrong. There is a huge body of scientific work that has gone into mangosteen research. you only have to go into Pub med or medline and type in xanthones or mangosteen to get The evidence. If doctors are providing answers then lets base then on facts. I would advise all to just study The research and draw your own conclusions. Your friend will likely find this out first hand, when their bloodwork comes back with very elevated inflammation levels, etc. It will. It's the inflammation that causes the damage. Look up the word placebo. If mangsteen was "medicinally" good for ANYTHING, then the broad population where it grows naturally and is consumed regularly (The Moluccas) would have lower rates of the specific diseases it is good for, right? They don't. i am afraid this is just a fruit, beyond being useful as one of your five a day antioxidants it has no other useful therapeutic properties. Though many outrageous and totally unscientific claims are made for it. Google mangoteen cures... will give you a modest 1/4 million sites just waiting for the hopeful and gullible! GP for more years than I care to remember Belle, Please don't waste your time on this. I have a cousin who swears by mangosteen and sells it and promotes it for simply everything imaginable. For her sake I tried it for a time, but it did nothing. It still does nothing. We don't hear any research discovering it's properties for the same reason that we don't hear a lot about okra. There's just not that much in it. Mangosteen is simply another fruit with a few vitamins. Red Delicious apples have more in them than mangosteen does. So do red beans. Please don't put your hope in mangosteen. I'm sorry to dash your hopes like this, but better to know the truth now than to be sadly disappointed and to have wasted time besides. |
