Where can i find the best treatment for lupus and fibromayalgia? |
looking for proper medication and doctors you should see? Hi, Your best bet would be seeing a Rheumatologist for the Lupus and some of the Fibromyaliga. I also see a chiropractor for my joint pain. I am not sure where you live but below you will find a link to some recommended doctors that may be in your area. Source(s): http://www.apsfa.org/apsfadrlist.htm... http://www.apsfa.org/lupus.htm The treatments for lupus and fibromyalgia are very different, but fibromyalgia can get in the way of judging the lupus activity. If you are being treated with immunosuppressive drugs for your lupus but have continued pain and fatigue, those symptoms may be considered evidence of continuing lupus activity, when they might be fibromyalgia. So there is the theoretical risk that you might be treated with higher doses of immunosuppressants and be at risk for their side effects, when such drugs don't help fibromyalgia and may not be needed at that time for your lupus. For example, among people with lupus, the occurrence of fatigue correlates more strongly with the presence of fibromyalgia than with their degree of lupus disease activity or damage. http://www.hss.edu/conditions/systemic-l... I was diagnosed with systemic lupus 25 years ago. The best advice I can give you is to find a good rheumatologist, one you can talk to, that will work with you. Very important=educate yourself on the diseases & treatments and how you can help yourself remain functional and living a good life. Maintain a positive attitude. I enjoy life, take care of my family, travel, snorkel, work, & laugh---you can too! Personal Experience Lupus Society Arthritis Foundation I was diagnosed with Lupus 2 years ago, and every three months a fly to see one of the national specialists. His name is Dr. Sheldon Blau and his office is in Massapequa Long Island. He is amazing. My first appointment was 3 hours. The best thing you can do is exersice, eat right and stay positive. Even though i have an allergy to the sun, I still try to go outside and get lots of sunlight! You need to stay positive, or else all is lost. Good Luck! |
