Can I have a successful pregnancy if I have lupus?

Im 23yrs and I've had lupus for 3yrs now and Im getting to the point where Im ready to start a family and have children. My lupus is under control, I do take plaquenil(100mg) and prednisone(10mg), but Im doing very well. Thank God. I've always wanted children, but I've been doing a lot of research on lupus pregnancies, and I have found a lot of miscarriage info. YIKES!! What are the chances of NOT having a miscarriage, and just having a successful pregnancy the first time?

Well, yes, you can, but it's not without risk, and the degree of risk depends on the features of your lupus as well. You do have a higher risk of miscarriage, and there may be an exacerbation of the lupus (not to mention the fact that some of the medicines used to manage the disease cannot be used during pregnancy. The best thing to do is to talk to your doctor and discuss all of the options, risks and benefits with him (or her).
you need to talk to your dr about that.. not sure i would take what just people say on here.. thats an important thing to do so dr would be your best bet. good luck
i don't know anything about lupus, but i can tell you if you take this problem to our Lord God, he will definitly let you come throgh(and the the baby!) What is lupus anyway? Good Luck!

Just to give you some hope. My friend has lupus too and had two beautiful sons.
Good luck!
well depends on if u have high lupus antibodies and all that who could attack the placenta with first trimester and cause repeated abortions ,best thing is to make your pregnancy a planned one and co ordinate from beginning with ob and gy so drugs also altered to avoid congenital anomalies ,rheumatologist and ob and gy coordination ,best of luck
