My 34 year old son has no feeling below waist, MS? Lupus?

He has had both hips replaced, he had an MRI of brain yesterday, he is depressed and barely walks with a cane. He jerks legs and arms when he finally gets to sleep. His hands shake during the day. I am a concered Mom.

I am numb from the waist down due to a condition called Transverse Myelitis. Many people even get paralyzed from it. I would have the doctors look into it. If you do a search for it on the internet you will find some very useful information. Hope this helps. You will be in my thoughts.
If he is under medical care, give it time for the doctors to make a diagnoisis.
i have no solution for you all i can wish is good luck and and prayer.
Only a physician who examines him can give you the answer. Any answer you receive on this site is mere speculation, and in all truthfulness, your speculation may be better than any you get from this site.
You are a great mom. Has your son seen a neurologist by any chance? I was diagnosed with MS in 2004 and have done extensive searches in regards to MS and the symptoms does sound like MS but cannot be determined by blood tests. The only tests that can tell a neurologist a person has MS is to have a spinal tap done where they draw fluid out of the spinal cord. As MS symptoms are like fyberneuralgia it is hard for doctors to diagnose but that is the ony way my doctor told me is how they determine if someone has MS. I am sorry to hear your son is not feeling well. Please ask his doctor to refer him to a neurologist. My thoughts and prayers will be with you and your son. Take care.
